Non-members are welcome to our meetings. At talks there is a small charge of £2 for members and £3 for non-members. Walks are £1 and £2 respectively.

Meetings and Talks

January – no meetings

 

Monday 13th February at the Museum of Carpet, Green Street at 7.30pm.  Great Witley Church. A talk by Howard Robinson. Please note that earlier information stating that this was a Tour & Talk at Gt Witley Church was incorrect. Apologies.

 

March Monday 27th at the Museum of Carpet, Green Street at 7.30pm. 'Hedgehog rehabilitation' a talk by Joan Lockley - West Midlands Hedgehog Society - with a live hedgehog.

May Tuesday 23rd The Society Annual General Meeting at 7.30 p.m. This will be held at the Museum of Carpet in Green Street. Formal papers to be sent out in due course. After the formal Meeting we are to be addressed by Mr Lee Jakeman, the fairly recently appointed Chief Executive of Kidderminster Town Council.

June Tuesday 13th  Walking Talk with Phil Ginnings “Commemorating Conflict: the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Kidderminster Cemetery”. Meet for 6.30pm start at the main entrance to Kidderminster Cemetery, corner of Park Lane. Parking on Park Lane, at the Watermill carpark or limited parking in the cemetery for anyone with less mobility. The cemetery is quite large and there are some steep paths and infrequent seating.

July Monday 10th 2.30pm £3.00 A guided tour of Great Witley Church and Crypt  by Howard Robinson. Tea optional in the Garden Tea Rooms, please telephone Mandy Poole 01562 754139 or use the 'Contact Us' page on this website if you wish to take tea so that we can book space.

September Saturday 30th, This is not one of our events but is Heritage Church Tour by the 'Heritage Opportunities Group. Guided Tours of St Ambrose, Kidderminster; Sacred Heart, Droitwich; and St Mary's, Harvington'. Coach boarding in Broadwaters at 10 am. Break for tea and Coffee in Droitwich. Return from Harvington at 4 pm. Tickets £25 from: John Beard, Bridge Street, or online at www.rosetheatre.co.uk or 01562 743745 plus booking fee.

October  Monday 2nd 7.30pm at Museum of CarpetThe killers of King Charles I; What happened to all the Regicides? “a talk by Howard Robinson.

NOVEMBER Tuesday 7th 7.30pm at Museum of Carpet. Memorabilia evening – Main topic Coronation and other Royal Souvenirs,  but please bring any general item of interest and share the stories.

​

DECEMBER Monday 4th Christmas Social, at the Rose Theatre.

There will be a tour of the Theatre followed by refreshments - contributions from Members welcome as always. £5 per head, advance booking – see attached form. The tour will include "back stage and props" and other areas that the public don't normally get to see.

FEBRUARY Tuesday 13th 7.30pm at Museum of Carpet

“Kidderminster Business Improvement District” a talk by James Barker, BID Manager.

MARCH Tuesday 12th at 6.30pm. Visit to The Holy Innocents’ Church, Sutton Park Road, Kidderminster, talk and tour followed by light refreshments in the Community Hall. Parking on site.

​

APRIL Sat 20th. A 'Bluebell walk' in Hurcott Wood. Meet in the car park at 11am off Hurcott Lane - close to the pool.

​

MAY Monday 13th at 7.30pm Annual General Meeting at the Museum of Carpet, Green Street. The meeting will be followed by a talk by Jamie Richards the WFDC Conservation Officer.

    Learn a lot about the town by talking out two hour walking tour. In the course of a gentle stroll we will reveal both  the warp and the weft of the history of the place.
